2006 F.X. Pichler Riesling Smaragd Dürnsteiner Kellerberg - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau (4/4/2023)
This should have been really good. Purchased on release from an excellent source. Cellared at proper temp and humidity since purchase, and opened at just under cellar temperature. Sadly it was all overcome by 2006 Disease. The wonderful peach, saline and light honey elements were overcome by intense alcoholic heat on each and every sip. I almost finished a glass before dumping the rest of the bottle. There’s too much better wine to drink lighter fluid.
