1989 Lynch Bages Question

by MikeH » Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:42 pm

My son's high school's annual fundraising event is next Saturday, March 10. The live auction includes a case of 1989 Lynch-Bages. I already searched here for TNs or other comments on this wine and came up with nada. So I am posting a general request for any comments folks might have that they have not posted.

I realize provenance would impact the value of the case and will do research. The donor (or the auction director, not sure which) has put the value at $3500 which sounds high to me....almost $300 per bottle. Comments?

Thanks.
Cheers!

It's great, drinking now. Try Winesearcher.com. I bet it's about $200 per.

Wine Searcher Pro gives a wide range, Mike. Discounting the auction/Zachy listings, here are a few:

Cellar Brokers $190
Wine Bank $199
CellarRaiders $210
Grapes $219
Blackwells $225
Wine Commune $225
WineFolio $229
Arlington $249
and so on for another eight or so retailers,
up to a high of $480 at Wine Menu.

Somebody must want a generous tax writeoff; sounds a wee bit high to me, but should be great wine.

Great result, Mike. I love it when people are so generous in a good cause.
