WTN: Bedrock Cuvee Karatas '12....(short/boring)

Cracked this wine last night:
1. Bedrock Cuvee Karatas SonomaCnty WW (14.5%; 55% MonteRosso Ancient Semillon plntd in 1886/45% SauvBlanc from KickRanch in RinconVlly; Brl frmtd in 55% new Fr.oak; 8 brls) Sonoma 2012: Med.gold color; lovely waxy/figgy/Semillon/green olive bit herbal some toasty/Fr.oak bit honeyed/toasted nuts graham cracker rather complex oldSemillon outstanding/perfumed nose; lightly tart beautiful aged Semillon/waxy/figgy/green olive caramel/nutty/graham cracker bit toasty/caramel oak slight herbal/dusty/OV quite complex flavor; very long/lingering complex finish that mimics the flavor & goes on&on; this is a beautiful example of an aged Calif Semillon that should go for another 4-6 yrs yet; beautiful wine.

1. This was a beautiful example of how great an aged Calif Semillon can be. It reminds a lot of old LouisMartini aged Semillon of 20 yrs but w/ more oak; as good as many aged HunterVlly Semillon but not as acid nor oaked. This is as good as Calif Semillon gets.

I don't have any older Karatas. Apparently the current edition uses Semillon from Bedrock Vineyard, as they bottled the tiny amount of Monte Rosso Semillion separately. Allocations of that wine were downright tiny.

They have dramatically moderated their oak regime in recent years.
