We tried these three new Turley PetiteSirahs at Pig+Fig last night:
1. Turley PetiteSirah LibraryVnyd/NapaVlly (14.4%) 2021: Very dark/black color; intense peppery/blackberry/PS/plummy/bit licorice light toasty/oak some complex classic PS nose; bit soft/porky intense PS/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe/plummy bit peppery strong toasty/oak ripe/extracted bit complex PS flavor w/ ample chewey tannins; very long/linger chewey finish that mimics flavor; a bit more high-toned complex PS than the other two; badly needs age, some 4-8 yrs. $60.00

Turley PetiteSirah RattlesnakeRidge/HowellMtn (15.7%) 2021: Very dark/black color; stronger toasty/oak some peppery/PS/plummy/bit spicy slightly simpler bit earthy lovely nose; more hard/tannic/oafish bit simple rather chewey/tannic some blackberry/PS/peppery/licorice bit HM/earthy/rustic flavor w/ ample chewey tannins; a bit more classic PS but more oafish/earthy in character. $55.00

Turley PetiteSirah HayneVnyd/NapaVlly (15.2%) 2021: Black color; very strong toasty/oak/bit smokey quite peppery/PS/spicy/licorice/plummy more Zin-like than PS more high-toned rather more extracted some complex nose; very intense/extracted bit soft big/ripe/blackberry/boysenberry/peppery bit alcoholic bit complex more high-toned/Zin-like very extracted flavor w/ ample chewey tannins; very long/lingering finish that mimics flavor; a huge extracted PS that badly needs age, 5-10 yrs; pretty pricey at $80.00.

1. I've always preferred the Turley PS's to the Zins. This threesome are all pretty massive PS's that badly need age; clearly made in the same mold. The Library was a bit more interesting/complex of the three. But the Hayne scores on the degree of extraction. But none of the three are PS's I'd throw out of bed.
