Buried in the cellar since release, I ran across a bottle the other day, and decided “why not, let’s give it a go.” Glad I did, as it showed very well, even if it still has lots of time. Deep red fruit combined with bright orange zest on the nose made an effective juxtaposition of weight and freshness. Meatier on the palate, the red fruit stepped back to be part of the mix rather than the focal point. Herbs and a loamy earth note rounded out the mix, with the orange zest re-emerging on the finish to clean things up, and buffer the strong tannins. Very enjoyable to drink one now, zi suspect better things are 3 or 4 years out.
