WTN: Radio-Coteau Riesling Estate '22....(short/boring)

Tasted last night from my R-C shipment:
1. Radio-Coteau Riesling SonomaCoast/Estate SonomaCnty (12.8%; U) Eric Sussman/Sebastapol 2022: Med.light gold color; lightly floral/R/bit herbal/slight mango/marigolds some earthy/dusty/OV slight Kansas haymow somewhat old-timey Calif R nose; very tart/tangy slight floral/R/marigolds/herbal/slight pineapple some earthy/dusty/OV bit metallic rather savory/saline old-timey Calif R flavor; med.long tart/tangy finish follows flavor; a rather old-timey style of Calif R; not a lot of perfumed/high-toned R fruit nor any degree of minerality; reminds a lot of old Sebastiani R or Sudtirol R; a bit disappointing. $50.00

1. I sorta let R-C fall from my radar as their prices started to escalate. So I thought I'd reconnect on their latest offering. I've always liked the wines of EricSussman, especially his Syrahs & Zins. I was expecting a lot more from this R. It was pleasant enough, but just that. I suspect it will put on weight & evolve some w/ age.

Tom you're probably the only one here who can attest to what California rieslings used to taste like. I know I've never had one. This doesn't sound great.

Well, Jenise.... those Calif R in the '60's-'70's, though mostly dry, tended to be a bit coarse/oafish/rustic. "Dull" is probably the best descriptor. They were mostly frmtd/aged in large neutral oak ovals & redwood tanks.
Sometimes it's nice to take a trip down memory lane. I can just see Gus Sebastiani standing there in his blue/white striped overalls, thumbs hooked in his waistband.
This R-C was not bad R. Just kinda ole-timey. They do so much better w/ R nowadays.
