WTN: Gros decency

1997 Richebourg, Gros Frere et Soeur

This wine is all that Richebourg should be. Intense, deep color--you'd never guess to look at it that it's 27 years old. Powerful, complex aromas and flavors. A classic expression of Burgundian pinot noir. There is still a bit of unresolved acidity and tannin poking out, although these resolve as the wine sits in the glass. I may have opened this too early (!). It is enjoyable now (but be sure to decant it well in advance), especially with food, but there's no hurry to drink it up. Double Curly Moe.

Excellent. 1997 gets a bad rap, but there are some very good wines.

yes, not a vintage I look for, but some producers (Jadot, Roumier) did well , and sounds like Gros did as well
