- 2008 Rare Champagne - France, Champagne (12/5/2024)
Graciously provided by a friend as the opening wine for my tasting, this was precise, elegant, and downright classy. Surprisingly steely given the age, and I think a more old school dosage level, the wine asked for food and was even more interesting with even just a bite of sourdough bread. Seems like a very long ager and lots of upside potential.

I noticed they've been dropping the Piper Heidsieck and just going for "Rare"
Haven't had the 2008, but had lots of the 2002, and agree on the classy. If only the packaging was!
