- 2006 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/21/2025)
Last bottle from the stash I purchased on release. It's a very interesting wine even at nearly 19 years of age. Just barely off-dry, there's a touch of spice and orange peel above the apple and stone foundation that I attribute to the unavoidable botrytis of 2006. Good acid spine that keeps everything in place. Mouthwatering even at this stage, and the finish is crisp and very complex as the spice really emerges alongside the slate and fruit. Good stuff, but likely more for dedicated fans, as the oddball vintage puts a definite mark on the wine.
