1996 Château Grand-Pontet - went to a local French restaurant that does special events and allows one to bring your own wines.
I've had this St. Emilion Grand cru since release but hadn't opened one before. Good dark colour and a very enticing nose of dark fruit and spice. I decanted it an hour ahead and took it to the restaurant after returning it to the bottle. It picked up some herbal elements after airing and didn't change much after that. Good length. Nice wine.

Nice note. There’s some 1998 in my dad’s cellar. I need to grab it.

Yes - I have the impression that his cellar was a cool one so the wine should be in great shape. I look forward to hearing your note of it!

Very good showing for a '96 RB! Thanks for note.
