Discovered this new wine on the shelf at Kokomans and gave it a try:
1. el lugar Syrah Spanish Springs Vnyd/SLO Coast (13.5%; 75% Clone #383/25% Clone #877; 40% w-c ferment; Hrvstd: 10/19/20; 4 brls; http://www.ElLugarWines.com) NPG Cllrs/ArroyoGrande 2020: Very dark color; very strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy some c-c/black pepper modest toasty/Fr.oak rather classic c-c/Syrah lovely nose; quite tart/tangy some blackberry/Syrah fairly c-c/black pepper quite spicy modest toasty/Fr.oak fairly structured some complexflavor w/ ample chewey tannins; very long/lingering blackberry/c-c Syrah/peppery w/ good structure & length; needs 4-7 yrs of age; reminds a lot of a DarrenDelmore SLOCoast Syrah but more angular & more structured; a bit pricey for an unknown producer but not particularly overpriced in this market; a real discovery of a new Syrah. $51.50 (KK)
