WTN: All is Vanity

J. J. Prüm 2023 Riesling Kabinett, Bernkasteler Badstube. Light, clean entry, touch of spritz, white flowers, some deeper minerality and earthy rather than ripe tropical-fruit notes (green papaya) emerge on the midpalate. Doesn't have quite the cutting acidity I expected. Pleasant now, will probably be more interesting in a few years.

2023 isn’t supposed to be a “high” acid vintage.

I knew that in principle, but it takes tasting to really reset my default expectations, and this is (I think) my first 23.

Badstube is also not a site for bright wines, at least in my experience. Of the Prüm sites I would put Graacher Himmelreich as the highest potential acidity site.

You may consider my knuckles suitably rapped. I'll try to avoid having ill-informed expectations in the future.
