WTN: (For Jenise) Two Vintners Cinsault

by Mark Lipton » Tue Apr 08, 2025 10:58 pm

So, we were out to dinner tonight after a long day at work, and the wine specials at the gastropub where we're eating are from Two Vintners*, a Grenache Blanc and the title Cinsault from the Yakima Valley. I got a glass of it to go with my pasta dish and it was actually fairly interesting: medium-to-light bodied, good acidity, varietally correct spicy-berry fruit, no presence of NFO but at 14.5% ABV the alcohol did stick out enough that a second glass wasn't warranted. I'd be interested to try the white at some point in the future.

* The reason these wines were on the menu here in the midst of flyover country is that the winemaker hails from this town, apparently.

It's been a few years, but I used to enjoy their grenache blanc. They were among the first to make this single variety in WA.

John, someone who claimed to know the other day said only three are making it here. I would have thought more, but if that's a case it's a shame. It does well here and II Vintners is very good. Mark, too bad about the alcohol on the Cinsault. I absolutely love that grape as a single variety, but few do it.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
