2006 Bodega Noemia de Patagonia Malbec J. Alberto - came across this digging about the cellar for something else, looked it up on CT and found what I have been seeing a lot of, reviews on both sides of good/bad or spoiled. Decided to pull a bottle and decide for myself. Turned out to be very good - colour now lightning from the pretty dense red of young malbec and the nose was floral based with some sweet blackberry hints. Smooth entry and in a good place as far as tannins go, with some interesting hints of coconut and mocha near the end, it drank smoothly and would have been a good wine to put up for a blind tasting - sadly, this was my last bottle.

Took a look at availability for more recent vintages and the current vintage has exceeded $100 Can. up here. And I daresay I am now out of luck if anyone calls for a blind tasting with a Patagonian theme!

I really enjoyed the Patagonian wines I had during our trip there in 2010. I liked them more than the wines from Mendoza.
