WTN: Arnot-Roberts OldVine WW '23....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:56 am

My new shipment of A-R arrived last week, so had to try:
1. Arnot-Roberts OldVine WW FarmerFamilyVnyd/SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty (12%; 3 brls; Plntd: 1954;
R + GWT/Chard/TrousseauGris + 6% unknown) 2023
: Light gold color w/ some tiny bubbles that dissapate; strong mango/R lightly floral/pineapple slight GWT/hair oil slight mineral/valve oil fragrant attractive some old-timey Calif R nose; quite tart/tangy metallic/steely some stony/floral/mango/R some metallic/mineral/valve oil totally dry bit austere/savory bit complex flavor; very long stony/mineral metallic/steely finish that mimics flavor; a bit on the savory/austere side but lots of old-timey Calif R character; lots like the Bedrock R's; pretty classic A-R leaness character but not at all eviscerated or thin; a bit of a Mosel-like R but lacks the minerality & valve oil; needs 2-8 yrs of age & should evolve into a quite good Calif R. $50.00

More knickerblat from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Not a particularly profound or attractive R right now, but I'm confident it will evolve into a great aged Calif R.

Clueless, David. It's a mixed planting of whites w/ no percentages.
The A-R WebSite states the wine id 85% R.
