ElenaWalch Sauvignon DOC: AltoAdige (13%; www.ElenaWalch.com; WilsonDaniels/Napa) ElenaWalch/Tramin 2023: Light yellow color w/ some small bubbles clinging to side of glass; quite fragrant/melony/SB/floral some herbal/grassy/SB light mineral/chalky fairly attractive SB nose; fairly tart slight metallic/steely rather rich light melony/SB/floral lightly herbal/grassy/SB light earthy/stony rather pleasant flavor; long rather herbal/SB finish that follows flavor; a lot more herbal than most NItaly SB's & remidssoe of Calif SB w/o the oak; a pleasant enough fairly herbal SB w/ a light melony/floral character. $27.00 (KK)

Cascina Luisin Dd'OC: Langhe Nebbiolo Maggiun (13.5%; NeilRosenthal/NY/NY) Cascina Luisin/Barbaresco 2022: Med.light color; fairly strong fragrant/Nebb/flral/violets/lilacs very slight pungent/earthy/dusty/OV quite pleasant Nebb nose; quite tart/tangy strong Nebb/floral/violets some earthy/dusty attractive Nebb flavor w/ some tannic bite; very long floral/violets/Nebb finish w/ modest tannic bite; a pleasant enough Langhe Nebb but just that; rather overpriced for what it is. $34.00 (SFW&S)

1. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for ElenaWalch. The day Susan & I did a visit there, they had hoisted an American flag alongside the Italian one up their flagpoles in our honor. I thought it was a thoughtful gesture.
I left the Luisin out on the counter overnight. This morning, it had put on weight & showed much richer w/ much diminished tannins.
