1986 Château Potensac - 1986 was a 'hard' vintage in the tannic sense with many wines that took far longer than normal to shed the often fierce tannins, bit for most it all worked out pretty well in the end as long as you were patient. I came across a bottle of this in the cellar and decided to pop it. Still reasonably dark, mid neck fill, no significant bricking at the edges, and the early hard tannins have softened nicely. Good red fruit, and lengthy finish, with no appreciable edges on the way. Don't write these venerable wines off without tasting!
