WTN: Failla Syrah Phoenix Ranch '01....(short/boring)

Steve brought this oldie from his cellar to share at our Pig+Fig tasting last night:

Failla Syrah PhoenixRanch/NapaVlly (14.3%; www.FaillaWines.com 1; Syrah Noir + EstrellaRiver clones) EhrenJordan WineCllrs/Calistoga 2001: Very dark color w/ some browning; very strong spicy/Syrah/blueberry/blackberry/bit plummy rather smokey/toasty/Fr.oak complex/Rhonish lovely nose; soft rich/lush rather smokey/Rhonish/toasty/Fr.oak strong blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/plummy complex flavor w/ light drying tannins; long Syrah/plummy finish w/ light drying tannins; lots of complex Rhonish character with plenty of Syrah fruit but starting to dry out on the palate.
More fisslesplat from TheBloodyPulpit:

Thi Syrah was in much better shape than I expected it to be. Starting to dry out on the palate, but still plenty of fruit & very nice Rhonish complexity. The vnyd is located just NE of the town of Napa. the Syrah vines were pulled in 2017. A number of wineries used Phoenix Ranch Syrah but I was never impressed by the wines. Not a great Syrah site.
