WTN: Burg, Loire, Mosel, Cava in NY and GA

Monday flounder, rice with furikake, spinach
2021 Domaine Nudant- Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc
Clean fresh white fruits (honeycrisp and pear), orange zest, easy finish. Tasty. B

Tuesday no wine with pork bulgogi, yakisoba, Chinese mustard greens

Wednesday, chicken miso meatballs, grilled trumpet mushrooms, rice, broccoli
2019 Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Piesporter Goldtropfchen Grosses Gewachs
Beautiful young Riesling, ripe orchard fruits (nectarine), floral herbs, blood orange, long earthy finish. Good acids, long complex finish. This probably deserves some cellar time but I really enjoy now. A-/B+

Thursday we flew down to Atlanta for my niece’s wedding. Rehearsal dinner was at a lovely historic country club (the groom’s grandparents had their reception there 60 years ago this weekend) , so I set my expectations low (not usually a fan of cc food and wine). But was pleasantly surprised. As people arrived the passed hors d'oeuvres included mushroom tartlets, smoked salmon with dill sauce, deviled eggs with caviar, and pimento cheese and bacon on butter-baked saltines

Raventos i Blanc Blanc de Blancs Cava
Unsure of vintage, but lovely light and fresh citrusy cava. Lemon and orange with accents of mint and anise, crispy finish and vigorous mousse.,B+/B

Inside for dinner, first course was a salad with a poached pear, pear chutney, baby greens and edible flowers, and some oil whipped goat cheese.

2023 Octavie Touraine Sauvignon Blanc
Slightly grassy, maybe a tad overcropped, but good acids and a fresh finish. B-

Short rib, potato galette, green beans, and a carrot puree
2017 Bouchard (Pere) Cote de Nuits Villages
Red and black cherry fruit, a peppery note, a little vanilln oak note (though I wouldn’t think this level would see any new oak), medium bodied, slightly four-square finish. Not the best Burg, but for a 70 person dinner I’m happy enough. B/B-

Cake, assorted passed desserts, and some lovely toasts to a wonderful couple

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

That’s pretty darned good for wedding fare!

Good to hear about the Kesselstatt. They have been so inconsistent over the decades. Should be so great.

Butter-baked saltines? A southern thang? New to me.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

actually not a general Southern thing to my knowledge, google turns up the fact they're associated with this club (Piedmont Driving Club)!
