WTN: 2 basic Burgs in CA- Marsannay and Chablis

A couple more relaxing days in El Granada, with beach walking, hiking, day trips to San Mateo (excellent tsukemen lunch) and Filoli, etc. Dinners were back at the house- grilled chicken thighs, morels, potatoes, and salad one night, then takeout BBQ (brisket, ribs, smoked link, apple/cilantro slaw, cornbread) from Betsy’s favorite place another. I had stopped at Weimax:

2022 Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis

Lovely and balanced Chablis AC, fresh acids, Granny Smith and lemon, floral, with flinty finish. I am going to look for this in NY B+

2020 Roty Marsannay
Black cherry and blackberry, pushing the ripeness limit for me, but with interesting grilled meat aromas and a hint of cocoa. Gets a bit plummy with air. OK acids. B/B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
