by TomHill » Tue Jul 22, 2025 2:37 pm

Tried these two white French wines over the last few days:
1. Dom.Les Terres Promises Vin de Pays de la Sainte Baume (13%; 60+ yr old vines; Clairette/Vermentino; Fruit of the Vines/LongIslandCity/NY) 2019: Med.gold color; light resinous/phenolic rather floral/Verm/carnations light stony/earthy/bit herbal/dandelions/hay mow rather pleasant nose; bit soft somewhat ric some herbal/haymow mostly floral/Verm/carnations bit rustic pleasant/interesting flavor; very long soft floral/Verm finish that tracks flavor; speaks mostly of Vermentino; quite a pleasant/interesting Verm but a bit pricey for what it is. $26.00 (AV)

2. Dom.Overnoy-Crinquand Chard LaBidode Ad'OC: Arbois-Pupillin (12.5%; natural wine; NealRosenthalImprts/NY) Dom.Overnoy-Crinquand/Papillin/Jura 2019: Med.dark gold color; quite stony/earthy/rustic/chalky very slight Chard/melony/almondy some funky/metallicvery earthy/stony/chalky very little Chard fruit flavor; very long/lingering rather metallic/chalky/stony finish that follows flavor; a rather saline/savory vry terroir-driven white w/ little Chard character; not particularly attractive but a good food wine that went well w/ the bacon-infused corn on the cob; should be better & more user friendly w/ a few yrs of age; shows lots of the Jura rustic character; no natty character that I could pick up. $30.00 (SFW&S)

More durklesoit from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Two rather interesting French whites not particularly attractive but non-the-less interesting. Terres Promises spoke mostly of Vermintino & probably is not going to benefit from additional age. The Jura I suspect will turn into a really interesting white as it drops some of its minerality & becomes more complex.
