2003 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Heimbourg - this Grand Cru Alsatian wine came to my attention in my slow purge of wines heading for eventual decrepitude. This one wasn't very outgoing when opened but I left it uncorked for an hour or so and it had opened up quite a bit, especially in the nose when I tried a bit in early afternoon. I decided to let it continue to develop until supper time, at which point it had recovered much of the interest in the nose and smoothness on palate that I recalled from my previous tasting of it around eight years ago. Last bottle and it offered some interest even though one had to work at it a bit.
I have a mixed case of 2005 - 2008 Alsatians that I'll be sampling this Fall - Zinds, Manns etc. Should be interesting.
