WTN: Groiss

by Jenise » Fri Aug 01, 2025 10:12 am

Late yesterday afternoon, Bob's and my beloved little Mercedes RV drove away with its new owner. After, I came inside, stopped in front of Bob's picture to tell him "Daddy, our baby's gone" (from the Beatles song Eleanor Rigby), and then went out to the back patio for a good cry with a cold glass of comfort:

2024 Weingut Ingrid Groiss Hasenhaide Rosé Weinviertel Rosé Blend
Simply sublime. Pale pink, elegant mouthfeel, dry/minerally finish: perfect on every level. Best rose of the summer so far and I doubt there's anything out there I'd like as much or better.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Sounds nice, new producer to me.
I know it's hard to see another sign of important chapter closing in your life. But I'm sure the new owners will have the kind of fun in your Sprinter that you and Bob had.

Her wines have been getting great press, and Tom and Patchen here are both fans. Rahsaan as well--I think. I liked the '23 but this '24 is even better.

Perhaps. Although if so, I don't remember it!

Yes, where IS that hug emoji?

I need to get some of that rosé; all I have in my cellar are a couple of vintages of the Gemischter Satz. But I know I’ve had this and loved it, too.
cheers, Patchen

Don't know that I've ever seen or tried an Austrian rosé before. What's the ABV on it, Jenise?

Mark, I'll check. I would be surprised, though, if it were a drop over 13.

Mark, the alcohol is 12%.

Oh, and thanks guys for the hugs. Needed them. :)

It IS. I've enjoyed it in other vintages, but the '24 is magical.
