WTN: You don't have to turn on your red light

2022 Le Vieux Pin Roussanne Okanagan Valley
I knew I was going to be sorry I didn't buy more of this, and here I am to say it. I'M SORRY. This is the most perfect roussanne I've ever had with bold quince fruit at the peak of ripeness, that exceptional BC minerality, and perfect balance. Not just good: exquisite.

2020 WeatherEye Vineyards Syrah Estate Red Mountain
This bottle arrived five months ago with the cork halfway out of the bottle and has been standing in my cellar ever since. The cork wasn't exactly loose, but it was so far up and loose enough that I could pull it out with my teeth. Uncorked all day but not decanted. There were no immediate signs of decline though it would likely seem lesser if tasted side by side with an uncompromised bottle. Also, no obvious smoke taint (which I'm sensitive to) as reported by others. That said, it certainly wasn't anywhere close to exciting nor in the same ballpark as a '19 we opened a few months ago, so maybe that's 'damage' even if it drank well enough for the Cincinnati Chili I served it with.

Have mixed case of their whites including the Roussanne including that vintage and so you'll get to taste them all over time. I agree that they are doing an excellent job!

The Roussanne is really lovely. Just looking back at my notes from tasting at the winery in May, this was the only white served. I enjoy the Ava but it wasn't poured, and I know there's a chardonnay. They also poured two roses. The '23 pinot rose had a note of dry yellow onions that I didn't care for at all. A Cinsault rose was better/cleaner and made with Washington fruit. Apparently this helped convince them to plant Cinsault on the estate next year.
