WTN: Two Roses....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Aug 11, 2025 1:41 pm

In the mood for a rose, I tried these two last night:
1. Pnk Salt OR Rose TW (12.5%; 40 yr old vines; Winemakers: Ksenija Kostic & John House) Ovum Wines/Dundee/OR 2023: Light orange/cranberry/rose color; light earthy/stony lightly floral/cherry/PN bit austere slight perfumed talc rather pretty nose; rather tart bit lean/austere some cranberry/melony bit flral/cherry/PN/cherry blossum light earthy/tangy rather classic PNRose/stiff/wirey flavor w/ light tannins; med.short stiff/savory/austere light floral/cherry blossom finish w/ little tannins; a fairly typical PN/Blanc/Rose w/ not a lot of aromatics; rather unthrilling rose. $20.00 (SFW&S)
______________
2. Dom. Carrel & Senger Jardin d'Altitude Vin de Savoie Rose (12.5%; 80% Gamay/20% Mondeuse; Vintage Imprts/Dnver) Carrel & Senger/Jongieux/Savoie 2024: Light cranberry/rose color; quite fragrant/perfumed floral/grapey/rose petal/Gamay grapey modest earthy/dusty very alpine flowers/apple blossom slight mineral/metallic lovely aromatic nose; very tart/tangy/metallic very floral/alpine white flowers/rose petal light earthy/melony fairly complex flavor w/ light tangy tannins; very long floral/alpine flowers finish that mimics flavor; an absolutely lovely very perfumed/bright/alpine flowers/complex rose w/o the coarseness you'd expect from a Gamey; a classic Savoie rose at a good price. $16.00 (SFW&S)

More roseblather from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I loved the Savoie rose. Loads of classic alpine flowers perfume & quite an interesting rose.
