WTN: Too damn hot - The Power of Gold

• 2020 Weingut Günther Steinmetz Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling "GP" - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (8/14/2025)
  I asked my wife to blind taste me on a Riesling. She poured me a small glass, and I gave it a smell, then a quick taste, and it was clearly Goldtröpfchen. It was just barely off dry (say very low halbtrocken) that only left two possibilities in the cellar. So I said Steinmetz, and she glared at me. Apparently I was supposed to guess incorrectly.

That's the most impressive part, as you have so much Riesling. I guess once you get the vineyard, narrowing down producer does leave fewer options. Bravo!

Thanks. I have always thought Goldtröpfchen was rather singular in its expression - at least when botrytis isn’t a factor.
