I’ve been trying to drop a few pounds, so most nights no wine if not socializing. Thursday no wine with salmon poached in a chipotle/adobo broth with chickpeas and spinach.
Friday , after getting call that my MIL had fallen and was at ER (and Betsy and her sister were out of town), I had a long afternoon at hospital, before taking her back to assisted living (she’s fine, but Alzheimers makes everything complicated). That night I felt like a glass of wine with my grilled pork tenderloin, farro salad, and eggplant. The 2024 Olga Raffault Chinon Rose did quite well - good acids and some real body to it, strawberries, peach, and Earl grey tea, nice mineral/saline finish. Not complex, but fun. B+
No wine Saturday (stirfried squid with bok choy and soba), or Sunday (scallops, spinach, farro)- I dropped the remainder of the rose off at a friend's so not wasted)
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
