Cracked this wine last night at our Pig+Fig tasting:
1. Cowan Cllrs Ribolla Gialla RRV SonomaCnty (12.9%; www.CowanCellars.com) CowanCllrs/SantaRosa/Florida Jim Cowan 2016: Med.light gold color; rather resinous/phenolic/VinoMacerati rather smokey strong RG/white pepper slight toasty/oak rather complex nose; rather tart/tangy lightly VM/skin-contact/phenolic bit tannic strong RG/white pepper/smokey some graham crackers/honey grahams/honeyed quite complex flavor w/ light tannic bite; very long/lingering some VM/phenolic finish that tracks flavor; a lovely VM/skin-contact RG that should go another 10 yrs; went great w/ the sea-salt potato chips.

1. In it’s youth, this was a pretty typical VM RG w/ lots of austere tannic character and not particularly attractive. I was a bit surprised that it had evolved into such a lovely RG this soon. An excellent example of how VM can evolve.

Doesn't seem to have gained much evolution in the last 1.5 yrs. Maturing rather slowly. But a terrific example of a VM RG.
