WTN: Louis Jadot Corton Grand Cru 2005

by Jay Labrador » Sat Aug 23, 2025 11:02 am

Last bottle of 4. The first three were either extremely tight or unbalanced, tending towards excessive tannins and/or acidity. Finally, after 20 years, this wine is showing its quality. Fairly robust for a burgundy, still a little strong on the tannins, but otherwise, a lovely drink. Assorted sweet, ripe, red berries predominate on the palate. A touch of smoke as well. Drinking quite nicely now, but I think still has room for development. Thankful I was finally able to catch it at the right time. A good match for a duck magret and foie gras in a tarragon sauce.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Thanks for the detailed note Jay. My 2005 Jadot stash is in the “keep out” section of my cellar, but maybe I will grab a bottle this fall..

Yes, I am wary of the combination of Jadot style and 2005, though I have a lot of confidence they will be great in end. Thanks Jay for update, maybe I should try sooner than I anticipated
