WTN: Two Italian Whites....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Sep 22, 2025 12:26 pm

Tried these two last night for DinDin:
1. Cantina Santadi Dd'OC: Vermentino di Sardegna (12.5%; EmpsonImports/Alexandria/VA) Cantina Santadi/Sardegna 2024: Light yellow color; lightly fragrant rather herbal/dusty haymow/new mown hay bit new vinyl trash can slight saline/Vermen very quiet quite weird nose; soft lightweight herbal/haymow very little Vermin fruit pretty vapid/bland/watery slight stony/saline flavor; a bland/watery white w/ almost no expression of Vermin; pretty dull stuff. $18.50 (KK)

2. Kellerei Bozen Muller-Thurgau Dd'OC: Sudtirol-AltoAdige Eisacktaler (12.5%; MatchVino/Sharon/CT) Bolzano Soc.Coop/Bolzano 2023: Med.light yellow color; very fragrant M-T/floral/hollyhocks bit pungent lightly grapey some earthy/dusty slight herbal/bit SB-like attractive (for a M-T) nose; quite tart/tangy fairly strong M-T/earthy/hollyhocks/pungent bit dull/undistinguished flavor; long tart M-T finish that tracks flavor; a pleasant varietally-correct M-T but a bit on the undistinguished side like many M-T's. $21.50 (KK)

More skizzlefret from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Muller-Thurgau is a grape that I have just not grown to love. Most of them I find fairly dull/grapey w/ little distinguishing character. I've had a few that I've liked a lot but, in general, they're just not very distinctive.

You have grown to love a grape that only rarely makes worthwhile wine???

Well, David. Not quite sure I love the M-T grape. But have found a few from time to time are pleasant enough for
easy drinking. I continue to try them....but w/ low expectations.
