WTN: A Grignolino & A German BA ....(short/boriing)

by TomHill » Mon Dec 01, 2025 2:47 pm

Tried these two last nigh:
1. Borgo Lame Dd'OC: Piemonte Grignolino Fre (12.5%; WineBridgeImprts/Davis/CA) Burgo Lame/Cisterna d'Asti 2023: Med.light color; quite fragrant strawberry/Grig/perfumed some earthy/dusty/OV quite pleasant nose; lightly tart some perfumed/strawberry/Grigo lightly dusty/OV flavor w/ light brisk tannins; long dusty/strawberry finish that mimics flavor; a very nice/pretty lightweight/easy-drinking red at a good price. $16.00 (SFW&S)
________________
2. Dr.Heidemanns-Bergweiler BA Rheinhessen (8.0%; SarantyImprts/Stamford/CT) Bernkastel 2020: Med.dark gold color; btl opens w/ a slight pop; slightly oxidative/pungent strong botrytis/R slight honeyed/honeycomb bit appley/graham cracker/vanilla wafer bit earthy rather strange/atypical nose; quite tartt some graham cracker/vanilla wafer fairly sweet some honeyed/honeycomb bit coarse some botrytis/appley bit oxidative rather strange atypical BA/R flavor; med.long somewhat sweet strange graham cracker/vanilla wafer finish; a rather strange rendition of a R/BA and some like an old VinoMacerati white; not worth the price. $23.00/hlf (TW)

More kippblwurst from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The BA showed up from my bottom-feeding at TotalWines this Sat. At TW, I often find some real values in the dessert wine category and had high hopes for this BA. Alas, the SarantyImprts once again delivers a high level of medeocrity for which this importer is noted for.

David....it's a Saranty Import, so most likely a made-up name.

Ah. Since I never venture into Total Wine I was not aware of that.

Is that one of their "Winery-Direct" deals? I have already learned not to touch those; they're all crap.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
