1996 Clos de la Roche, Louis Jadot
This was my Thanksgiving dinner wine, served with coq au vin. It was grumpy and closed in when first opened but opened up beautifully after decanting. This is a classic example of top quality Cote d'Or grand cru from a top producer, at or near its peak of maturity. The aroma is abundant and way too complex and delightful to waste time dissecting it. Flavors are also abundant, complex and in exquisite balance. There is a little bit of roughness on the finish that makes me think the wine might be drying out. No rush to drink it up, but it's so enjoyable now that there's no reason to delay. Triple Curly.
