Last night it dawned on me that I haven't tasted a very young, recent Bordeaux in such a long time that I've almost forgotten what that experience is like. So I pulled this out of the cellar and poured myself a glass:
2020 Château Coufran Haut-Médoc (barrel sample, a gift)
A PnP. Dark, almost black. Cassis fruit, chocolate and black coffee with none of the herbal character I expect from the H-M for which Cantemerle is a baseline. Dry, classy, drinks well immediately and fills out in the glass. Jeff Leve says it is "clearly a step up from previous vintages". I have no prior familiarity so will take his word for it.
