TN: 2019 Le Vieux Pin Cuvee Doree - Vieux Pin is a B.C. winery that takes a lot of care with their winemaking and produces some of the best wines from the area. This wine is a Rhone white blend: 64% Roussanne, 24% Marsanne, 12% Viognier. I recently bought a mixed case of their whites and I like this wine over more recent vintages (likely a result of a bit more time in the bottle. Some nice floral elements in the nose - honeysuckle (which usually comes from the viognier), and a smooth long finish with slight crispness at the end. Would be an excellent wine to decant into an empty white Rhone bottle and see what people think!

Sounds interesting. I like Roussanne. It provides an interesting textural element.

Yes - and the ones made by this winery are the best I've come across from this region.

I agree on their Roussanne. The '22 was magnificent. But the fact that they were pouring their godawful heavily smoke tainted '21s to customers they knew would know better? I lost respect.

If they were pouring both vintages at the same time, and tasters could sample each, they deserved the 21s if they wanted them. I can't imagine anyone preferring the smoked version.

But they weren't. Of the red wines--this at a booked in advance paid for tasting, we weren't just walk-in tourists--they only opened the '21s. The smoke taint was the heaviest I've ever tasted on any wine. Not surprising as I remember being there at that time and how you could barely see the building from where we parked in front of it. It was horrible. But the wines are just as bad. And when we complained about the taint? They didn't pivot. Just brought more 21. I only bought the roussane, which was a '22.
