WTN: Recent red Burgundy

A few young Burgundies at home:

2022 Michel Rebourgeon Pommard Les Noizons
Almost one year after the first bottle and this is still sweet and full but it’s also gaining more definition and focus. Definitely good value for those who want ripe creamy Burgundy with some mineral precision. But not the energy that connects with me on deeper levels.

2022 Michel Rebourgeon Volnay Carelle Sous La Chapelle
Again, one year after the first bottle and is gaining more detail. Finer than the Pommard Noizons and hinting at elegance, but still very juicy and dark fruited, which is not my favorite profile.

2022 Rollin Pernand-Vergeless Rouge
Here we have the energy. Simpler and less depth than the Rebourgeons, but nice delicate crisp fruit with some dark spicy 2022 elements. Lovely fun with the right food. Third bottle in recent months and I probably don’t need to buy a case, but will be happy to drink it again.

2023 Louis Boillot Gevrey Chambertin
Ripe and juicy in the modern way, but also showing aspects of the succulent crystal Boillot berry fruit that I used to get, but did not find in the 2022 Gevrey. Will be curious to see how it ages, as my experiences with earlier Boillot were mixed.

A few maturing bottles at the restaurant:

1999 Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er
Lovely but hardly gushing, still sharply framed by structure.

2006 Hudelot-Noëllat Nuits-St-Georges Les Murgers
Needs a lot of air to be approachable and then it has Nuits charms, but will see about the future.

2006 Chandon de Briailles Corton Les Bressandes
Again, needs air to be approachable and may show better in the future. It is a bright wine now, and enjoyable for the vivid snap, but not for those who need flesh.
