Shared these two w/ Susan this weekend:
1. Yves Cuilleron Sparkling Vionnier Brut Nature Methode Tradionnalle (12%; 100% Viognier; Grape Expectations/Richmond/CA) Yves Cuilleron/Chavanay 2022: Light gold color w/ lots of tiny bubbles; rather bready/bit yeasty/sparkler light pear/Viog classic sparkling wine nose w/ little fruit; very tart/tangy light pear/Viog quite fizzy/effervescent bit bready flavor; med.long fizzy/effervescent very light peach/pear/Viog finish that mocks flavor; a fairly classic sparkling wine that only whispers of Viog; nothing really distinctive as for a sparkling wine; varietal character doesn't come thru like on a Muscat; just another pretty sparkler. $29.00 (KK)
_______________
2. Gruet PinotNoir Cuvee Gilbert Gruet (13%) P&B by Gruet Wnry/Dundee/OR 2020: Dark color w/ slight bricking; some cherry/black cherry/PN rather earthy/loamy bit Burgundian some bretty/unclean light pencilly/toasty/Fr.oak somewhat interesting/rustic nose; lightly tart rather earthy/dusty/loamy light black cherry/PN some toasty/Fr.oak flavor w/ light earthy tannins; med.long bit tannic/bitey rather earthy/loamy finish that tracks flavor; a rather rustic/dull/uninteresting earthy/loamy PN that speaks nothing of NM or OR. $17.00 (KK)

More flicklegip from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Never done/did see a sparkling Viog from the Rhone Vlly. The strange spelling of Vionnier caught my attention and compelled me to try it. I was expecting more strong Viog character but the sparkling wine process pretty much beat that out of this wine.
I have no idea where the grapes for the Gruet came from. They would like you to believe this is a NM wine. I highly doubt that. Since Precept Brands bought out Gruet wines in 2014; they've been pretty dodgey as to the source of their wines. Mostly their wines are WashState I suspect. This wine was labeled as P&B by Gruet Winery/Dundee/OR. Lotsa of luck in finding a Gruet Winery in Dundee.
