- 2022 Melsheimer Reiler Mullay-Hofberg Riesling Sekt Brut - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/2/2026)
Something new to get 2026 into gear, we had this while watching the latest Knives Out movie. First sip and I hear the magic words “that doesn’t suck!” It’s highly aromatic, and definitely Riesling-fruity with yellow apple (yeah, Golden Delicious) and fresh peach notes. Not the most effervescent sparkler, but enough to provide lift and freshness over and above the bright fruit. As it warms there some additional yeasty and even toasty notes, but for now this is mostly about the lovely fruit. Between the two of us the bottle disappeared very quickly. 11% alcohol made it that much easier.
