Susan & I shared these two wines last night w/ her wonderful Lamb Shanks:
1. Zestos Blanco Dd'O: Vinos de Madrid Malrac (12.5%; Ole&Obrigado) 2022: Med.gold color; some floral/carnations slight stony/chalky pleasant nose but just that; rather soft bit bland/watery/vapid light floral/carnations very slight chalky flavor; short watery/bland finish; nothing wrong w/ this wine but totally unremarkable and very much on the bland/vapid side. $18.00 (AV)

Roots Blaufrankisch Podravic/Slovenia (13.0%; Vinum Wine Imprts/Basking Ridge/NJ) Kobal Wine Estate/Grabelcia/Slovenia 2023: Dark color; strong earthy/loamy rather grapey/plummm]y/BF fairly aromatic bit rustic pretty classic BF nose; soft/bit mushy strong BF/grapey/plummy/licorice/pungent earthy/loamy some rustic flavor flavor w/ light soft tannins; long rich/plummy/BF finish w/ light soft tannins; very strong Burgenland BF character w/ nothing different to suggest Slovenia; quite a nice expression of BF. $23.00 (AV)

1. You seldom see Blaufrankisch from Slovenia. Brian brought this into ArroyoVino because it would be right up my alley. It was. Quite a nice expression of BF, though not that distinctive.
