Thanks to someone here, but who?

It was someone on this board who had organised a tasting of wine from islands - to them my thanks for the idea.

The last tasting I ran for my group had the theme PIWI Wines but I struggled to find enough PIWI varieties, so I padded them out with some non-PIWI hybrids.

I decided that my next tasting would be with easier to get wines, and I remembered a posting here.

So we're going Island Hopping from Corsica to Crete, Majorca to Madeira, Sardinia to Sicily and Tasmania to Tenerife, with eight wines: one traditional-method fizz, one fortified, one white, one pink and four red.

Including some familiar varieties such as Pinot Noir and Grenache, and some obscure ones such as Vilana and Sciaccarellu.

t's been fun choosing the wines. I hope the group find the tasting as enjoyable.

So thanks to the person who gave me the idea.

That was probably me! Both of my local groups have explored it. It's a fun topic, isn't it? Surprising what can show up.
