WTN: Muscadet and Fleurie, both nice!

Oysters, sauteed scallops, spinach, and pasta
2021 Luneau-Papin Granit L’d’Or Muscadet
Full but with bracing acids, sweet apple and tangerine, seaspray and seashell. Plenty of potential but delicious now. Unfortunately I think I only got a couple and drunk. WS shows all gone, will have to bet on subsequent vintages. A-/B+

Betsy’s BIL was out of town on her sister’s birthday, so we invited Kath over for her favorite food of their childhood, beef stroganoff. With egg noodles, broccoli, and some cheesecake cupcakes

2011 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie
Drinking well, black and red cherry, cocoa, a hint of green pepper and light herbs. Nice texture, still some backbone. B++

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

This reminds me that it's been years since I've seen an offer for Luneau-Papin Muscadets. (I obviously need to shop at CSW more). The '02 L d'Or and a '92 L d'Or consumed with Rahsaan in London (ca. '06) were both remarkable wines. And good to hear about the '11 Roilette. I've got some of that, too.

I see a lot more Muscadet producers around Nyc these days. But you're right, not many email blasts.

Well, the L' d'Or is pricier than most Muscadets, but that still seems a bit excessive. The '22 can still be had here for USD 34, which is a few bucks cheaper, but probably not worth getting it shipped.
