- 2017 Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (2/12/2026)
Unusually for me, I drank this over three evenings, and even more unusually I liked it just as much every night. The first night was the brightest, with the expected sweet, peachy fruit buttressed by the acidity. Night two brought out more fruit complexity, as the peach picked up some cherry tones - heading towards that “Nahe fruit cocktail” that Michael Broadbent used to mention in his notes. The final night it showed a touch richer, but also silky in an alluring way. Texturally gorgeous. So much going on in this wine such that a few more years in the cellar stand to be profitable, but it’s plenty fun now.
