WTN: Hidden Valley Ranch

  • 2023 Kutch Pinot Noir McDougall Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (2/23/2026)
Spur of the moment choice, and wide open for business. Lots of red fruit on the nose, and a riot of floral tones, focused on gardenia, with a light talc/baby powder element as well. The fruit dominates the front and mid-palate, with the floral notes taking over the finish. Beautiful wine, and a pleasure to drink now, and likely for many years to come.

I can't see the connection between the subject title and the wine.

But, unconnected, it reminds me of the humour I got from driving past a large signpost with an arrow pointing to Hidden Valley.

It was the name of a winery in RSA owned by Dave Hidden..... :)
