After a big dim sum lunch, we had a late dinner of roast chicken, roast vegetables (carrots, turnip, etc), broccoli.
2000 Marquis de Terme (Margaux)
Red plum fruit, vanilla, cedar, tannins fully resolved, a bit too much makeup. B-/C+

Oysters, grey sole, orzo with Taiwanese spinach as we watched the blizzard begin.
2023 Servin Pargues Chablis
A hint of matchstick, Granny Smith and citrus, balanced acids, clean easy Chablis AC. B

Couple feet of snow, lots of shoveling, but decided to skip wine Monday night as we went meatless with an Ottolenghi dish of warm hummus with ful.

Tuesday was more shoveling, Betsy made bucatini amatriciana and salad.
2022 Tiberio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Big ripe fruit but that’s what I was looking for with dish. Dark berries and black cherry, mocha, smoke. Not profound but what I needed. B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

I'm still dealing with elbow tendinitis brought on by overly zealous raking of leaves in the Fall. Take care, Dale! Surprised that you were drinking that Tiberio Montepulciano that early in its life.

We had about 2 feet. Tried to keep up. Did walk/steps/driveway 3 times Sun night, woke up to maybe 9 moreinches, then kept snowing until early afternoon. Cleared cars/drive. Then into office to shovel, and then dug out 2 vans next day. Getting too old. This is biggest storm I think we have had since 1996 (though 2000 had a bunch in a row)

Yes, the Tiberio was very young, but it was Central Italy and there.

!!!

That's what I keep hearing, but it didn't feel that big. In part because the city was so much more pro-active about clearing streets and sidewalks, and because melting has happened faster than even the storm a few weeks ago.

But it's a different story when you have to do the shoveling yourself!
