Tried these two Scarpa reds over the last few days:
1. Scarpa Casascarpa Dd'OCG: Barbera d'Asti (14%) Nizza Monferatto 2022: Med.dark color; very strong Barbera/spicy/dried Italian herbs/Italian sausage very ligh pencilly/oak bit earthy/dusty/OV loads of spicy Barbera fruit classic Piemonte Barbera nose; lightly tart quite spicy/Barbera/dried Italian spices fairly rich/lush lovely Barbera flavor w/ light brisk tannins; very long ripe/Barbera/spicy finish that mocks the flavor; rather rich/lush for Piemonte Barbera w/ lots of spicy Barbera fruit; does not have the teeth-chattering acidity of most Piemonte Barberas but still speaksstrongly of Barbera; a sound/supple mouthfeel atypical of Barbera but still speaks of Scarpa winemaking; a real steal at $18.00 (KK)

2. Scarpa Dd'OC: Langhe Nebbiolo Bric du Nota (14%; Casa Vinicola Scarpa/Miami/FL) Nizza Monferatto 2022: Med.dark color; very fragrant/perfumed classic lilacs/violets/rose petals/Nebb light licorice/pungent slight earthy/dusty/OV quite lovely Nebb nose; fairly tart/tangy strong Nebb/floral/violets/lilacs/rose petal light earthy/dusty/OV fairly rich classic Nebb flavor w/ ample hard tannins; more like a B/B than a simple Langhe Nebb; pretty big/rich/supple for a Langhe; very good price at $26.00 (KK)

More feedlycrok from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I'm very fond of the Scarpa wines. They show strong/classic varietal character that you look for from Piemonte. On the palate, they have a supple mouthfeel you don't commonly fine in Piemonte reds. They also make a Timorasso I'd love to try. Best of all, the Scarpas are relatively modestly priced. I've been following them since the were first brought into the US by Darrell Corti around 1976.
