Tried these two wines w/ Susan this weekend:
1. Spreitzer 101 Riesling VDP Gutswein Q/Rheingau (11.5%; EB; A.P.Nr. 29101 025 24; SkurnikWines/NY) Weingut JosefSpreitzer/Oestrich 2023: Light gold color; fairly attractive floral/R/mango/gardenias slight mineral/flinty quite pure R nose; very lightly tart rather sweet some floral/R/gardenias/mango light mineral/steely flavor; med.long finish that mocks flavor; lots of R purity in the nose but a bit dull on the palate because of all the RS. $21.50 (KK)

2. EricChevalier Cirrus Pay Nantais IGP Val de Loire Orange Wine (13%; MeBaD; Maceration de Fie Gris; KermitLynch/Berkeley) Eric Chevalier/St.Philbert de Grand Lieu 2021: Med.dark gold color w/ some cloudiness; very strong resiny/phenolic/orangy/ViniMacerati rather fagrant fairly dusty/OV/earthy bit complex fairly classic VM nose dominated by the resiny character; rather dry/austere very resiny/VM/phenolic some earthy/dusty/OV fairly tannic/austere slight herbal/fruit complex flavor w/ modest chewey tannins; very long strong VM/resinous/orangy complex finish; a pretty classic young VM/orange that needs 5-10 yrs of age to become really interesting; not very pleasant to drink on its own & needs some savory food w/ it, much like a Fino Sherry. Much more attractive at a cool room-temperature. $35.00 (SFW&S)

More fieblot from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I had a Spreitzer AlteReben Riesling last weekend that I loved for its purity of R fruit. But I was rather disappointed in this Spreitzer. It had much of the same purity of R fruit. But the RS made it seem kinda dull & boring on the palate & it lacked the purity/minerality of the AlteReben. The price was right but the AlteReben at $27 was a much better value.
Fie Gris is the local name for this clone of SauvBlanc in this area, where it is known as Sauvignon Gris. It's a grape that is dying out but is experiencig a mild resurgence of interest. Because it is a VM, hard to decipher any similarity to Sauv Blanc. Don't think I've ever tried a Sauvignon Gris on its own. It supposedly has much more fragrance than Sauv Blanc (do'nt know about the Musque clone, though. Tis wine was not very pleasant on its own but I'm confident it will evolve into something pretty interesting.
