Tried these two wine last night w/ DinDin:
1. Lucien Albrecht GWT Reserve AC: Alsace (13.5%; www.Lucien-Albrecht.com;Med.sweet; FoleyFamilyImprts/SantaRosa) Lucien Albrecht/Colmar 2023: Dark gold color; strong very spicy/GWT/nutmeg ripe/overripe GWT slight hair oil some complex nose; soft very rich/lush overripe GWT/nutmeg/hair oil quite sweet/cloying quite overripe flavor w/ slight bitterness; med.long very overripe/GWT finish that tracks flavor; an interesting nose but way too overripe/sweet to be palatable; really more of an Auslese-level dessert wine than anything; not at all attractive on the palate; more suitable for cheese of dessert course; not worth the $24.00 (SFW&S)

2. Marina Danieli Schioppettino Dd'OC: Friuli Colli Orientali (12.5%; MatchVino/Sharon/CN) Buttrio 2023: Dark color; very strong Schio/peppery/spicy/earthy dusty/OV light pencilly/oak fairly bright bit rustic nose; fairly tart/tangy quite spicy/peppery/Schio light pencilly/oak bit dusty/OV rustic flavor w/ modest chewey tannins; very long quite peppery/Schio finish that mocks the flavor; quite a classic expression of peppery/Schio/Friuli ; a bit rustic & not a profound/complex expression of Friuli Schio but quite nice; needs several yrs yet of age. $22.00 (SFW&S)

More ziddlefret from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Schioppettino is one of my favorite Italian grapes because of the peppery character it displays. Wish there were more of it planted in Calif.
