WTN: Perpetual Change

by David M. Bueker » Tue May 19, 2026 8:00 pm

  • NV Westborn Perpetual Reserve 02 - USA, California, North Coast (5/18/2026)
Served alongside lobster rolls and fried whole belly clams, this worked very well with the lobster, though it clashed badly with the earthy bellies of the clams. It was a brilliant match with the French Fries!

Don’t serve it too cold, as it really mutes the wine, even more than a lot of other sparklers. Warmed up a bit there was subtle fruit, and a lot of toasty brioche on a well structured frame. I’ve had this wine twice now, and it’s right at the top tier of domestic sparklers.

And now I can't stop hearing Jon Anderson's voice echoing in my skull. Thanks a lot, David!

oh sh#$, did I stumble into PRDG (Prog Rock Discussion Group) again?
I'm trying to think of who was telling me about Westborn recently at a wine dinner. Have you had the regular Brut ("reserve")?

Not yet. I have two different vintages on deck for sometime soon. Want to know how much Laura and I like their stuff before I buy more. My buying permission is Fragile, so I have to do my buying in a Roundabout way.

Close to the Edge of not being able to buy, eh? I'm sure you'll manage Survival somehow.
