Shrimp saag and rice, and the 2017 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling. White pit fruits, lime, citrus blossoms, some petrol. Dry and tangy, good length and persistence. Young but lots of promise. B++

Bobby Flay chicken, oven fries, kale
2007 La Rioja Alta Alberdi Rioja Reserva
Red fruits, dill, coconut. Bright on approach, but finish is a bit short with an ashtray note. Drink up. B-

Oysters with lemon and a ramp mignonette
2023 Testut Cote de Brechain Chablis
Grapefruit, Granny Smith, dried herbs, moderate ripeness but with enough saline/seashell on finish to make good oyster wine. B+

Tuna , white beans, tomato and pepper
2024 Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose
Strawberries and blood orange, floral and herbal, bright and long. Very satisfying, and works well the tuna and beans. B+

Lamb kebabs with pita and tahini/yogurt sauce, za’atar rice, kale
2015 Pibarnon Bandol
Black fruits, grilled meat, green olive. Crunchy and expressive. Not super complex, but tasty and a good match with the grilled lamb. B+/B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Might have thought someone with your palate would prefer a more aged Bandol!

I don't drink much Bandol of any age, but did buy several 05 Pibarnons last year, drank one, found it delicious and not too tertiary for my tastes. Will see when I get around to the next bottles..

David, CFE has gotten pricey enough I now buy in 3s not 6s. I tried this, but haven't tried 16. Really this is the only CFE I have tasted since 2013 I think.

Rahsaan, I do like Bandol with real age. But I don't find that it tends to shut down hard so I can enjoy younger ones when food can stand up to tannin (like lamb, you'll have to take my word for it :) )
