2015 La Rata Wines La Rata Walla Walla Valley Grenache/Cab Blend
Lively and well integrated. Secondary flavors just beginning to emerge matched well with the mushroom/herb/ truffle pizza I made.
2024 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Grenache Brosseau Vineyard Chalone
Loved it. A lighter, almost ethereal style of grenache compared to most. Wish more were like this.
2024 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Indie Bookstore Light Red Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend
Skunky nose that didn't go away when left open overnight. Hopefully my other bottle isn't similarly affected.
2015 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
Fantastic. I don't know that it has the structure for aging into the tertiary zone, and this bottle didn't seem quite as spicy as the last bottle I opened in '23, but the sweetness of the fruit remains exotic and it's still exceptional for '15 Oregon pinots. I've yet to have any of the funk others complain of, btw.
2013 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah In the Rocks Walla Walla Valley
This has beautifully arrived in a peak moment. Better than the flagship Stonessence, I note. Poured immediately upon pulling the cork and it drank identically well the next day, even though we forgot to cork the bottle--that's a feat.
2024 Le Petit Silex Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc
Medium straw-yellow, opens with aromas of freshly mown grass and ripe lemon. Drier and more masculine than most Sauvignon Blancs, the palate and finish are less about fruit/herbs than stoney minerality. Good, just more food wine than sipper.
2022 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir Whole Cluster Willamette Valley
At Book Club: I usually find this brand's pinots average at best, but this one had satisfying depth and complexity. Was probably a Costco purchase at under $25--very good value.
