  • 2020 Ramey Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/6/2026)
Exactly what I would expect from a Ramey single vineyard Chardonnay, this had brisk acids, a dash of spice, and beautiful, perfectly ripe fruit. It’s got plenty of body, but never for a moment feels heavy. Given the balance this could go 15 years or more, though I doubt I can resist for that long.

Sounds good. I believe in one of your posts you mentioned that you had no need for white Burgundy when you could drink this. Maybe that wasn't meant as a literal statement, but still strong words. Yet it's also not cheap, I see the new vintage of this wine over $90, plus tax. And at that price it competes well with good Burgundy equivalents?

It in fact does compete very well. I have written previously that this particular bottling goes toe to toe with the Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère, which costs nearly three times as much.
